Following its highly anticipated unveiling at the Tokyo Ham Fair, the Icom IC-7760 HF transceiver has sparked widespread interest among amateur radio enthusiasts worldwide. Two major German amateur radio dealers, Difona Communication and WIMO, were among the first to receive their equipment for testing. Both immediately posted their own reviews of the product on YouTube.

Difona Communication Review
Difona’s brief presentation (2m:21s) highlighted the IC-7760’s user-friendly design and tremendous capabilities. They mostly appreciated the 7-inch touchscreen for ease control access, as well as the 2.4-inch sub-display that provides additional informations that bring simplification on antenna management and filter settings. The Plug-and-play connectivity and many ports present on the new Icom Transceiver, including USB and network, were also emphasized as important advantages. Video presentation is just in German.
WIMO’s Detailed Review
WIMO provided a more technical and detailed review in a 23m video, focusing on the IC-7760’s external control unit, which connects via Ethernet and allows for a clutter-free configuration. The 200-watt output and dual direct-sampling SDR receivers were highlighted for their superior performance. WIMO looked at features including digital pre-distortion for clearer signals, pre-selector improvements, and the option to use two separate receivers with different antennas for diversity reception. Summary of both reviews
Both german ICOM vendors agree on considering that the Icom IC-7760 is a high-end transceiver whose target are serious DXers and competitve contesters. Difona stressed its ease of use, whilst WIMO emphasized its technological competence. With features including 200-watt output, two receivers, and intelligent antenna management, the IC-7760 is a top-tier transceiver for experienced operators.
